PROJECT
Dog Hang Out App and Responsive Website
SUMMARY
I am creating a new app to help people find a good place for their dogs and use it to make friends. I need to determine if the primary user experience, finding and taking part in the PETUP activities, is easy for users to complete. We’d also like to understand the specific challenges that users might face in searching, chatting, and joining processes.

BACKGROUND
PETUP app was created as my project in a UX UI course. We were asked to find a problem (which could be the slightest one ) and design a digital product that gives a solution for it.
I am a foreigner in Japan, and because of the loneliness, I was thinking about having a dog, but I was confused about where I could take a walk with it, also I want to make friends that also have dogs that they can play with together.

I made a research and found out I wasn't the only one that had that problem, and not only dogs' owner had it, but a lot of other pet lovers as well!
So I decided to design an app that becomes a pet lover's app, a place where they can find the best road to their pet, can see all the informations about parks, and make an activities if they want, finding inspiration and follow their friends and favorite figuers from the pet world.

Welcome to PETUP, you and your pet's friend.
THE PROBLEM
A lot of the newer in Tokyo who have dogs have the same problem, and they are confused about where they could take a walk with it. And also want to make friends that also have dogs with whom they can play together.
THE GOAL

THINK-ALOUD COGNITIVE WALKTHROUGH
Task 1: Ask the user to find a park want.
Task 2: Ask the user to post an activity.
Task 3: Ask the user to join the activity.
Task 4: Ask the user to see the information about the park.

UX
Insights
・Many people cannot find the target location of PARK the first time.

・Some users thought It was not easy to find a place by using the menu bar.

・Using forced touch to delete a folder was not intuitive to any users.

・Users thought the starred option should be an exterior feature while the information icon should be interior because it's less utilized.

・All users thought getting adding someone new was usable and easy to learn.
UX
Redesign
Based on the insights from the usability research, I applied design changes, such as providing a clear section from the home screen to browse and using tags specifically to make the target location clearer.

The content of the "Activities" is detailed, the options for "JOIN" are enlarged, and the picture is reduced. Thus, the content of the event becomes more detailed.

Responsive design: sitemap
With the app designs completed, I started work on designing the responsive website. I used the PETUP sitemap to guide the organizational structure of each screen’s design to ensure a cohesive and consistent experience across devices.

Takeaways
Impact
Users shared that the app to find the place seems like something they could actually help. One quote from peer feedback was that “the PETUP app helps bring caring about the environment to a personal level in a way that’s easy and engaging.”
What I learned
I learned that even though the problem I was trying to solve was a big one, diligently going through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs to be helped me come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful.
